USF Maritime Law Journal Symposium
The University of San Francisco Maritime Law Journal, in conjunction with the Longshore Institute, will sponsor a one-day seminar that will provide a detailed explanation of the Longshore Act and its extensions. The event is open to attorneys, insurance professionals, and law students. Six CLE credits are available to participants.

Associate Professor Richard Leo’s North Carolina Law Review ar­ticle, “The Problem of False Confessions in the Post-DNA World” (2004), with Steve Drizin, was cited in the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision Corley v. United States. Professor Joshua Davis presented “Judicial Activism and Judicial Resolution of Contested Facts in Antitrust Cases” at the Loyola Univer­sity Chicago School of Law’s Ninth Annual Antitrust Colloquium. Professor Susan Freiwald spoke on the legitimacy of and recent devel­opments relating to Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act at a recent Bar Association of San Francisco seminar.

In this edition of @USFLaw, you’ll see we have much to celebrate: the graduation of the impressive Class of 2009 and their presentation of a historic class gift, an inspirational commencement address by civil rights icon and children’s rights activist Marian Wright Edelman, awards and noteworthy scholarship by professors, and extraordinary new additions to our faculty. This summer, our students and faculty are fanning out across the country and around the world as part of the law school’s robust summer courses and internship offerings. I have the pleasure of assisting students in two of these programs, in Cambodia and Vietnam, for the next two weeks. I invite you to come along for the ride via my new blog and follow me on Twitter.
